$40 to spend on an automotive themed gift basket. I already have a craftsman tool bag to put everything into... this is for a 16yo girl getting her first car, a 1999 Jeep XJ. Callaway for your time.

Mechanix Gloves are always a good bet! Throw in a Jeep Hotwheels for extra brownie points

service manual? but as it goes for roadside kit, gloves seem to be missing all to frequently. Perhaps a small first aid?

El First Aid kit, emergency blanket, gloves, folding knife or seatbelt cutter, flares, flashlight (preferably shake or windup because a 16 year old ain’t changing the batteries), pre-tpms so stick tire gauge, multibit driver, adjustable wrench, couple bottles of water.

Should be able to grab all that with Chinese off-brand crap which is good enough in a pinch.

Jump cables or box should be in the car as well but I wouldn’t go cheap China there. Lug wrench and emergency jack needs to be there as well, but hopefully she’s still got the factory stuff. Other things to think about if you want to go over a bit, spare bulbs, fuse pack, cleaning supplies, roadside assistance subscription, flares, cheap BT OBDII reader.

bottle jack is probably a bad idea for someone who might not know how to properly place it

For a girl getting a ‘99XJ as a first car?

Jumper cables for sure.

Tire pressure gauge (digital)

Tire plug kit

First aid kit/space blanket

Maybe a 1L container each of appropriate oil / brake fluid / power steering fluid?

A nice bikini. So when her car breaks down, she can *politely* ask a nice young man for help. :P
